Good Coffee in Burlingame – A Bitter Disappointment
There is a certain magic to the promise of a well-reputed coffee shop. The heady aroma of freshly ground beans, the velvety pull of a well-poured espresso, the quiet hum of conversation floating over warm pastries—these are the marks of a truly great café. Unfortunately, Good Coffee in Burlingame offers none of the above.
It is an overhyped establishment, a victim of its own buzz. The space, while aesthetically curated, had not a single open seat, leaving patrons awkwardly lingering, balancing their lattes in hand like lost souls in search of refuge. But let’s talk about the coffee—the main event, the raison d’être of any café worth its salt. Unique? Yes. Drinkable? Barely. The latte, an expensive indulgence, arrived looking promising but proved to be an exercise in misplaced ambition. Whatever flavors the barista was reaching for—notes of citrus? fermented cocoa?—landed firmly in the realm of regrettable.
To add insult to injury, the pastry case was a barren wasteland. Not a croissant, not a single scone to be found. A coffee shop without pastries is like a library without books: fundamentally incomplete.
In the end, I left not just disappointed, but in search of redemption elsewhere. Another café was required to cleanse my palate, a rare and unfortunate necessity. Good Coffee, it turns out, is a misnomer. I will not be back.
Sincerely,
Shaye Story
