Covour Coffee brings a refreshing simplicity to the Palo Alto coffee scene. The coffee itself is solid, with each drink offering a reliably good experience that hits just the right notes. I started with a standard latte, which came through with warm chocolate undertones that rounded out each sip without overpowering. It’s a cup that holds its own without needing much fanfare—a no-fuss, high-quality coffee that feels balanced and approachable. However, after revisiting 3 times, I can confidently say this is not my new go to coffee shop. It takes 20-25 minutes to receive your drink and the consistency is lacking.

With that being said, for those looking to venture into something a bit sweeter, the Tiramisu latte offers a dessert-like experience in a mug. It’s decadent, rich, and sweet, as the name suggests, perhaps better suited to satisfy an afternoon craving than for any caffeine boost. Somewhere between indulgent and straightforward is the Vienna Einspänner latte, which I found to be the perfect middle ground. It carries enough depth to feel satisfying, without the intensity of sweetness found in the Tiramisu option. If you’re looking for something that combines a smooth coffee profile with a touch of complexity, the Vienna is a dependable choice.

Covour’s pastry offerings add a thoughtful touch, with a mix that gives both sweet and savory options. The Ham & Cheese croissant, with its dijon mustard element, is the standout. The balance of buttery layers and a slight mustard tang made it the kind of pastry you wouldn’t mind ordering again. The Honey Financier, while leaning on the sweeter side, still held a nice balance, offering a mellow, honeyed sweetness. The gluten-free options, however—the Pandan Mochi and Black Sesame Mochi—were less compelling. They’re decent but lack the layers of flavor and texture that make other options memorable.

One thing worth noting about Covour is its approach to tipping. Rather than using a percentage-based system, they offer flat-tip options of $1, $2, or $3. It’s a subtle decision but a smart one, helping keep prices straightforward and accessible without the math, which is a welcome approach in a city where coffee bills can often run unexpectedly high.

All in all, Covour Coffee does a commendable job without the need for flashy marketing or complex flavors. It’s the kind of place where you can count on a reliably good coffee experience and well-thought-out pastries, making it a solid choice if you’re in the area. However, I don't think I will be making the trip back anytime soon.

My Order: An Iced Latte and a Ham & Cheese Croissant.

Sincerely,
