I ordered the Classic Honey Matcha Latte and the Premium Uji Matcha Soft Serve, and both exceeded expectations. The latte was perfectly balanced—rich and earthy with just the right amount of sweetness, especially when ordered less sweet. What sets it apart, though, is the free extra shot of matcha that’s available for customers who like their drinks with an extra strong matcha flavor.

The soft serve was equally impressive. Creamy, smooth, and lightly sweetened, it hit all the right notes. Its flavor reminded me of Maruwu Seicha’s soft serve, which is a high compliment.

The Drawbacks

As much as I loved the matcha, the ordering system was unfavorable. There’s only one self-serve kiosk for placing orders, which means you’re at the mercy of how quickly—or slowly—the person in front of you can navigate the screen. It also means you feel immense pressure to order quickly. During busy times, this can feel frustrating, especially when you’re eagerly anticipating your matcha fix or have questions about your order.

Better Service Than Maruwu Seicha

One thing that sets Izumi Matcha apart is the quality of their service. While Maruwu Seicha often feels impersonal with minimal interaction, Izumi Matcha strikes a better balance. Even with the self-serve kiosk system, the staff at Izumi is quick to step in and assist if needed, creating a more welcoming and customer-focused atmosphere compared to Maruwu. It’s a small but meaningful difference that makes Izumi stand out.

Final Thoughts

Izumi Matcha delivers where it counts: exceptional matcha quality, thoughtful touches like the extra matcha shot, and desserts that hit the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. While the ordering system is a bit clunky, the incredible drinks and soft serve make the minor inconvenience well worth it.
